About Us

Our Vision is for the Northfield Centre to be:

A bright, clean, modern, attractive, lively centre, incorporating the Stepping Stones café and offering a warm welcome to everyone.

There will be a wide ranging programme of activities for all ages, making the centre the hub of the local community.

The Northfield Centre is a place where people from all walks of life will feel able to drop in.

We respond to local needs and challenges, including isolation, disadvantage, social needs, education, leisure and unemployment.

We work in partnership with others in the delivery of services and activities.

The Furniture Scheme

In 2014 The Furniture Scheme, a social enterprise secured the contract to manage the Centre on behalf of Staffordshire County Council

The Furniture Scheme was started in 1994 initially to address a growing need to find a way to reuse and recycle unwanted household items and to help those most in need.

Since its inception, the Furniture Scheme has become a leading Social Enterprise and charity and has an excellent reputation both locally and nationally.

The Furniture Scheme’s ethos is one of equality, enablement and involvement; particular focus is placed on providing opportunities to the unemployed and socially disadvantaged.

The FS has successfully broadened its horizons to tackle a multitude of social problems and remove the longstanding barriers that confront the perennially disadvantaged. In an ever changing political and social landscape the FS continues to practice what is preaches – “We see value in everything, especially people”.
